VAYU‘s Biography:

Vayu, (Vaibhav Shrivastava) is a superb songwriter, singer, composer, and many other things. He has been a treasure in the Hindi film industry for more than ten years. He has been an exclusive Sony Music Label Company performer since 2018. He was born on August 3rd in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. In the cities of Rewa and Singrauli, he also had an older brother with whom he spent his youth.

He’s been interested in writing and listening to music since he was a child in the 1990s. He went to Rewa’s Jyoti Higher Secondary School and then to Wigan and Leigh College for his undergraduate studies.
Over there, he studied Graphic Design. He applied to Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication in Pune for his post-graduate degree, where he earned a master’s in mass communication.


It was about this time that he began writing extensively and working as a freelancer, beginning in 2009. He began his career in advertising and commercial organisations, writing for various mediums such as television and print. Finally, in 2010, he earned his first break as a lyricist in Ram Gopal Varma’s film Rann. Then, in 2014, with the songs Oopar Oopar Renn De with Tanishk Bagchi and Banno from the film Tanu Weds Manu Returns, released in 2015, he established himself as a quirky and successful lyricist, making his name easy to discover in the industry.

Career :

He began his Bollywood career with Tanishk Bagchi. However, the two have gone their separate ways in recent years, only sometimes collaborating on a song or two. Vayu has worked in over 30 films to date, sometimes as the head of the music department and other times as a writer. In 2015, he was nominated for the Mirchi Music Awards as the Upcoming Lyricist and Upcoming Music Composer of the Year for the song Banno from the film Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

He describes his art as a way of channelling people’s ordinary emotions, thoughts, and experiences into a powerful song. Songs, he feels, should speak for themselves, thus they should be as genuine as possible.

Vayu’s work is characterised by his ability to channel his everyday feelings and experiences into his songs – “I aim to be delicate.” The songs should be able to speak for themselves. When I write, that is my goal and mission; I always want to create authentic stuff.”

The lyrics for Arjun Kanungo’s track Gallan Tipsiyaan were written by Vayu. and the track Thug Ranjha by Akasa.

Latest Fact :

Sanedo from Mitron was written and co-composed by Vayu in 2018. (Starring Jackky Bhagnani and Kritika Kamra). He wrote the lyrics for the Akshay Kumar film Gold’s Chad Gayi Hai and Monobina.
He also wrote the lyrics for three songs (Milegi Milegi, Kamariya, and Nazar Na Lag Jaaye) in Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s current popular film Stree, with Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee in supporting parts.
Badhaaiyan Tenu is a new song composed by Vayu for Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s forthcoming comedy drama film Badhaai Ho. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra play the key roles in the film.
