Ajay Devgn’s Biography :

Ajay Devgn is the stage name of Vishal Veeru Devgan, an Indian actor, producer, and director (born 2 April 1969). He has acted in more than one hundred Hindi movies.

Devgn has received various honours, including four Filmfare Awards and two National Film Awards. He received the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honour bestowed by the Indian government, in 2016.With Phool Aur Kaante, Devgn launched his professional career in 1991.

He soon became well-known for playing an action hero in hit movies like Jigar (1992), Sangram (1993), Dilwale (1994), and Diljale (1996). was founded in 2000. With U Me Aur Hum, he made his directorial debut in 2008.

Since 1999, he has been wed to movie star Kajol. The Bhagat Singh Legend (2002). He worked with Rohit Shetty on a succession of action comedies after the success of Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006), including Golmaal Returns (2008), All the Best: Fun Begins (2009), Golmaal 3 (2010), Singham (2011), Bol Bachchan (2012), Singham Returns (2014), and Golmaal Again (2017). His highest-grossing films include Tanhaji (2020).and Total Dhamaal ( 2019).

Devgan was born into an Amritsar Punjabi Hindu family (Punjab). The family has ties to Mumbai’s Hindi film business. Veeru Devgan, Devgn’s father, was a stunt coordinator and action movie director, and Veena Devgan, his mother, is a producer. Anil Devgan, his brother, is a screenwriter and director.

Devgn attended Mithibai College after graduating from Silver Beach High School in Juhu.While working on the movie Jigar, Devgn started dating actress Karisma Kapoor; however, the two split up in 1995.While they were co-starring in the movie Gundaraj that same year, Devgn and Kajol Mukherjee started dating. Their dissimilar characteristics caused the media to refer to them as “an improbable team.”
Due to several other actors with the same name being introduced at the same time, including Manoj Kumar’s son, Devgn changed his stage name from his birth name, Vishal, to “Ajay” when he entered the film profession in 1991. With Phool Aur Kaante, he launched his professional career and won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He appeared alongside Madhoo.

Devgn split when perched between two motorcycles in his initial scene. Jigar, a Bollywood martial arts movie starring Karisma Kapoor, was his subsequent release in 1992. It was released over the Diwali weekend and earned 7 crore (US$920,000) at the box office, ranking it as the seventh-highest grossing film of the year.

Devgn appeared in Harry Baweja’s Deewane in 2000. The movie had a poor box office performance. Devgn and Kajol co-starred in his debut home production, Raju Chacha, that same year. The movie had a mediocre level of success.

With Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta, Devgn appeared in the passably popular 2001 movie Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke.

Lajja, starring Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, and Anil Kapoor, was his subsequent movie. He received a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor nomination. But the general public did not like the movie. Tera Mera Saath Rahen by Mahesh Manjrekar followed.

Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, and Akshay Kumar were also cast alongside Devgn in Rajkumar Santoshi’s action film Khakee in 2004. The movie debuted on January 23, 2004, in theatres. It earned favourable reviews and ended up becoming one of the top-grossing movies of 2004.

Devgn played a villain in Khakee as well. Critics praised his portrayal of a police officer who turned killer. remarked Taran Adarsh: “With a performance that could have only been made by a master performer, Ajay Devgan adds yet another achievement to his resume. His exchanges with Amitabh Bachchan are outstanding.” Devgn made an appearance in Indra Kumar’s Masti: Sanam Teri Kasam later in 2004. He appeared in Yuva as well.

Devgn had a less productive year in 2005. His films did not have a profitable run. They featured Shikhar, Tango Charlie, Main Aisa Hi Hoon, Blackmail, and Insan. The movies Kaal and Apaharan, however, did well. Devgn received nominations for both the Filmfare Best Actor Award and the National Film Award for Best Actor for his work in Apaharan. He was nominated for the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role as the villain in the movie Kaal.

Devgn appeared in Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal in 2006. Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3 were its two follow-up films. The Awakening, a little documentary about the 2005 Mumbai floods, featured Devgn that same year.

Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag and Cash, both directed by Anubhav Sinha, both starred Ajay Devgn.

Devgn appeared in Rajkumar Santoshi’s social drama Halla Bol in 2008. Pankaj Kapoor and Vidya Balan were included in the cast as well. The movie is based on the life of activist Safdar Hashmi, who was murdered in 1989 while appearing in the street play Halla Bol by political opponents. The movie got negative reviews. Devgn appeared in Rajkumar Santoshi’s social drama Halla Bol in 2008.

Devgn appeared in Rohit Shetty’s comedy Golmaal Returns, which was released in 2008 and is a follow-up to the previous movie, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, about a wife who suspects her husband of being unfaithful. There is nothing particularly novel about a suspicious wife keeping tabs on her husband, and there is nothing particularly novel about the way Ajay-Kareena play it, according to The Indian Express, which called the screenplay derivative. With $10 million in worldwide sales, Golmaal Returns was a commercial triumph.

Devgn produced his third movie, All the Best, which Rohit Shetty directed in 2009. Some financial success was achieved. Following that, Devgn acted alongside Salman Khan and the Tamil actor Asin in Vipul Shah’s London Dreams. The general people did not like the movie.

The action-thriller Aakrosh, directed by Priyadarshan, had Devgn as the lead. Honor killings are a topic that the film examines. Despite some favourable reviews, Aakrosh didn’t do well monetarily. Devgn and Rohit Shetty once more collaborated on Golmaal 3, the follow-up to Golmaal Returns, at the end of 2010. (2008).

Although the movie garnered mixed reviews, just like its predecessor, it was the most financially successful in the Golmaal series, grossing over 107 crore (US$14 million). Devgn contributed his voice to the animated movie Toonpur Ka Super Hero.

The following year, Devgn featured in Priyadarshan’s Tezz. Anil Kapoor, Boman Irani, Kangana Ranaut, Sameera Reddy, and Zayed Khan were his co-stars. The following year, Devgan featured in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan. Then he played the lead in Son Of Sardaar.

Devgn appeared in the Himmatwala remake in 2013, which was disappointing both critically and commercially. The following film starring Devgn was Prakash Jha’s political drama Satyagraha.

Devgn appeared in the Singham Returns sequel directed by Rohit Shetty in 2014. Indian reviewers have conflicting opinions about Singham Returns.  Bollywood Hungama’s Taran Adarsh gave it four stars and stated: “Powerful drama, high-intensity dialogue, and towering performances make the movie a perfect mass entertainment.

The brand value associated to it coupled with a lengthy weekend would enable the film gather a crop and rule the box office in days to come.”. On the first day of its release in India, the movie made over 32.09 crore (US$4.2 million). Singham Returns have a domestic net of 140.62 crore ($18 million). Devgn then appeared in Prabhu Deva’s Action Jackson, which had a poor box office performance.

Devgn played an honest Indian Revenue Service officer in Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid, which was released on March 16 to favourable critical reviews and was a commercial success.  Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragari, the prequel to Son of Sardaar, is a project that Devgn has been working on for a while. We are working on the script, but due to the scope of the project, it won’t happen for another two years, Devgn said in August 2017. In De De Pyaar De, he appeared with Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. In the early 2020 release Tanaji: The Unsung Warrior, directed by Om Raut, Devgn played the part of military commander Tanaji Malusare from the 17th century.

Bhuj: The Pride of India, a historical drama starring Sanjay Dutt, Sharad Kelkar, Nora Fatehi, and Sonakshi Sinha, was released in 2021. He also appeared in Sooryavanshi as DCP Bajirao Singham.
With the online series Rudra on Disney+ Hotstar in 2022, Devgn made his OTT debut.

Ajay Devgn founded FFilms, an Indian film production and distribution firm, in 2000. It is based in Mumbai and mostly creates and releases Hindi movies. ADF released Raju Chacha, its first movie, in 2000. Devgn played the major role in the movie, and Kajol, his wife, played the lead actress. Despite mixed reviews, Raju Chacha brought in Rs 82.5 million at the box office. Devgn made his directorial debut in 2008 with the drama U Me Aur Hum, which he also co-produced.

Devgn co-starred with Kajol in the movie’s lead role, which he also portrayed. Devgn and three other writers collaborated to draught the script for the movie.

Taran Adarsh gave the movie four out of five stars and called it “a well-made, engrossing love story with a strong emotional quotient,” indicating that the reviews were generally favourable.

The Rohit Shetty-directed film All the Best: Fun Begins, which also starred Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, and Mugdha Godse, was Devgn’s home production that was released and in which he also acted.

The movie premiered on October 16, 2009, and reviews generally praised it. It was well received in India and debuted at number nine on the 2009 Bollywood box office list.

Singham Returns, starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, was produced by ADF in 2014. Devgn produced and acted in Shivaay in 2016, which is expected to be his most expensive film to date.

Total Dhamaal, starring Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey, Madhuri Dixit, and Anil Kapoor, was made by ADF and Fox Star Studios in late December 2017.


Devgn founded NY VFXWAALA, a visual effects studio, in October 2015 and named it after his children. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Tamasha, Bajirao Mastani, Mersal, Dilwale, Force 2, and Simmba are just a few of the big movies it has worked on. At the 64th National Film Awards, the business earned the Best Special Effects prize for the movie Shivaay (2016).
Devgn appeared in the romantic action comedy Bol Bachchan (2012), directed by Rohit Shetty and produced in collaboration with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. Prachi Desai, Asin, and Abhishek Bachchan were also present. The movie is an official remake of Gol Maal, at a budget of 70 crore (US$9.2 million) (1979). The movie had 2,700 prints and opened on July 6, 2012, in around 2,575 theatres worldwide. Despite the conflicting reviews, it had a strong start at the box office. Record-breaking advance tickets sales were made for the movie. One of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies was Bol Bachchan. It brought in Rs. 158 crore ($21 million).
